The Cobra Advantage

A tube every 1/4". 17 fins per inch. Up to 18 air directional changes. Other cord designs:  A tube every 7/16". 14 fins per inch. Up to 4 air directional changes. Other core designs:  A tube every 9/16" to 5/8". 10 fins per inch. Up to 5 air directional changes.

Cobra is manufactured from copper and brass. Copper has been, and will be for the foreseeable future, the ultimate material for heat transfer, long lasting durability, and is repairable if needed.

NOT JUST A LOUVERED FIN. Cobra's fin is designed for maximum cooling efficiency. There are louvers at each fin crossing. These louvers are computer designed and manufactured to a precise angle and length. Their location and angle on each fin is designed to eliminate air boundary build-up (a layer of air that insulates fin material from air flow). There are 620,400 of these precise louvers in an average Cobra street rod radiator which accounts for 206,800 air directional changes taking place throughout Cobra's core area. These air directional changes break up air flow, creating a scrubbing effect on the fin material, thus eliminating air boundary build-up. These changes may vary, depending upon the application. At Cobra's fin edge the copper material is hemmed to double thickness for added strength and durability.

The distance between each tube (Fin Height) is precisely 1/4". This 1 /4" fin height measurement is unique in that it allows for the additional number of fins and tubes through Cobra's core area and is manufactured exclusively by Walker. Also, Cobra's fin height is computer controlled to give a uniform bond between the tube and fin area. This uniform bond is essential for maximum heat transfer and strength to withstand vibrations.

Cobra's fin count is 17 (Z-Series 12), which means there are 17 heat transfer fins in every vertical inch of Cobra's core surface. This fin count is unmatched in number.

You will also notice that Cobra is considerably thinner than other street rod radiators on the market. Cobra's unique design requires less cubic inches for maximum cooling efficiency. This allows for additional fan clearance in the engine compartment.

Cobra's superior design and unsurpassed quality provides a cooling system required for today's high performance engines.

Which Walker radiator is best suited for your application?

Cobra Standard Series: Designed for basic small block engine applications that are stock throughout. Complete with pressure system and an oil cooler for your automatic transmission.
Cobra Standard Cool-Mate Series: This is a complete cooling package for your street rod. A Cobra radiator with transmission oil cooler, and air-condition condenser for stock engine applications.
Cobra Z-Series: The ultimate in cooling system radiators. Born to cool the massive boss big block engines, this design radiator is a must for ultra heavy-duty applications.

Cobra Z Cool-Mate Series: The same cooling power as the Z Series with all the extras needed for modified air conditioned supplied engines.

NOTICE

Modified Engines = Z Series

Cobra Standard Series radiators are NOT DESIGNED TO COOL any engine that has been BORED.  Also big block Chevrolets, big block Fords, Ford flatheads, big block Mopars, 400 small block Chevrolets and anticipated hot running applications such as SUPER CHARGED engines.  The above engine applications should use our COBRA Z SERIES radiators.
